The point of deadly synergy

This is how renowned Russian geophysicist, Alexey Dmitriev, described the climactic processes which are beginning to overtake the planet –feeding into and reinforcing each other, producing apparently unconnected series of mega-disasters (such as the unprecedented series of earthquakes, hurricanes and volcanic eruptions which marked 2005). Dmitriev starts his ground-breaking paper, PLANETOPHYSICAL STATE OF THE EARTH AND LIFE, published in 1997 in Russian, with the following introductory sentence: Current PlanetoPhysical alterations of the Earth are becoming irreversible. Strong evidence exists that these transformations are being caused by highly charged material and energetic non-uniformity's in anisotropic interstellar space which have broken into the interplanetary area of our Solar System.
In case this leaves you scratching your head a little, he kindly go on: These deep physical processes, these new qualities of our physical and geological environment, will impose special adaptive challenges and requirements for all life forms on Earth.
To simplify somewhat, Dmitriev posits a world where geo-physical processes, given a mega-boost by electro-magnetic space energy, go into spasm and create all the conditions necessary for Armageddon.

Number 1 – The Mayan Calendar

In the conclusion to his famous essay (the one that set the whole 2012 ball rolling...) on how the Mayan calendar predicts startling, if not calamitous, happenings for the 21st December 2012, THE HOW AND WHY OF THE MAYAN END DATE IN 2012 A.D., published in December 1994, John Major Jenkins states:

This essay is not contrived upon sketchy evidence. It basically rests upon two facts:1) the well known end date of the 13-baktun cycle of the Mayan Long Count, which is December 21st, 2012 A.D. and2) the astronomical situation on that day. Based upon these two facts alone, the creators of the Long Count knew about and calculated the rate of precession over 2300 years ago. I can conceive of no other conclusion. To explain this away as "coincidence" would only obscure the issue. For early Mesoamerican skywatchers, the slow approach of the winter solstice sun to the Sacred Tree was seen as a critical process, the culmination of which was surely worthy of being called 13.0.0.0.0, the end of a World Age. The channel would then be open through the winter solstice doorway, up the Sacred Tree, the Xibalba be , to the center of the churning heavens, the Heart of Sky.
